According to Premium Times report, formal president of Nigeria, President Olusegun Obasanjo speaking through one of his ally Oyewole Fasawe in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on October 13, Obasanjo, PDP membership card holder, explained that he had neither endorsed nor condemned any candidate of any Nigeria’s party heading for the office
After the last week’s separate visits by Senate President David Mark and head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu to the ex country leader, it was alleged that Obasanjo had warned the opposition leaders not to field Atiku Abubakar.
In his Monday speech, Obasanjo assured Nigerians of his unbiased attitude to all the parties adding that he would not endorse one over the other even if some try to put pressure on him.
His representative Mr. Fasawe was quoted saying:
“Baba has not endorsed anyone and has not condemned anyone. A statesman of his stature and pedigree can only pray and work towards peace and progress in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large. Those trying to exploit his friendliness to gain political advantage over other contenders are being unfair and doing so without Obasanjo’s approval.”
