The study was carried out at the university of Southampton by a specialised team, who have been studying over 2,000 people with cardiac arrest, using patients from Australia, United state of america and united kingdom.
The announcement made recently is that, those survived described some kind of state of awareness during the time they were, technically, dead.
Dr Sam Parnia told The Telegraph: “We know the brain can’t function when the heart has stopped beating. But in this case, conscious awareness appears to have continued for up to three minutes into the period when the heart wasn’t beating, even though the brain typically shuts down within 20-30 seconds after the heart has stopped."
